Designed for 1,000km/h [622mph] closing speeds, and for rapid acceleration and braking, giving journey times unbeatable by any other mode. Journey typically faster than short haul jet travel, and up to five times quicker than driving. Half the journey time of the UK's best trains (London-Leeds), twice the frequency, three times the capcity, but uses less energy per seat-km. Empowers economic development outside London and creates a more sustainable balance between the North and London/SouthEast Enhances international competitiveness by radically improving links to Heathrow whilst being faster and greener than domestic air travel.
